Pokemon XP

Hi, I'm relatively new to the pokefind server, and I've stumbled upon some problems. Two pokemon that I had gotten through trade dont gain xp after a battle. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

 

By any chance what generation Pokemon are they and what gen world are you playing on

 

Its a Politoed and a Mareep and I'm in the gen 1 world

 

Gen 2 Pokemon won't gain any xp in the gen 1 world unless you are level 50 also you can bypass this if you have an exp share

 

Would it be the same if it was from an egg? I've been thinking of buying a gen 2 egg

 

If the pokemon comes from an egg it will gain exp in both servers
